SAME JAX Updates and News

Save the Date: Wednesday Feb 17th 12:00pm

Speaker: Victoria Mechtly, RS&H Business Development

Topic: Why you need a personal brand and how to develop it

Description: In 2021, brand development is no longer an exclusive activity for companies. Studies have shown that individuals with a focused personal brand are actually seen as more personal and more memorable. To achieve this you have to create your brand, which is not about changing who you are, it’s about highlighting the aspects that make you who you are.

Join us for this presentation, which is given each year to SAME’s National Leadership Development Program class, as well as at the SAME Career Transition Workshop.  You will learn how to take what you already have, create a brand and utilizes it in your development to be a leader in the A/E/C industry.

Speaker bio:  Victoria Mechtly is an architecture, engineering and construction (A/E/C) business and marketing professional who specializes in client development, strategic messaging and imagery for business-critical marketing and communications efforts. For the past seven years, she has worked with her technical staff to create business development approaches and materials, and with principals to secure new clients and projects. Ms. Mechtly holds a degree in business management, marketing and sales, and brings a passion for helping others develop interpersonal skills. She works with technical professionals and marketing staff to improve communication, team collaboration and other soft skills that lead to successful careers. 4th Annual Co-Hosted New Year Kick-off Leadership Speaker Luncheon Announced

The SAME JAX Post, in conjunction with NDIA, NCMA & WID, is honored to announce Vice Admiral, US Navy (Ret) Mary Jackson as our speaker in late January.  Vice Admiral Jackson recently retired after an impressive military career serving in her last active duty assignment as the 6th Commander, Navy Installations Command where she led the Navy’s shore enterprise comprised of more than 53,000 personnel at 10 Navy Regions and 71 installations around the world.  She is the Principal of Desert Rose Navigator, providing independent consultancy ranging from enterprise risk management to leadership training.

This will be a hybrid event offering in person attendence as well as being live streamed via Zoom. COVID protocols will be incorporated with great measure. As well, this event is also incorporating SAME JAX Membership Appreciation incentives for those who qualify due to our Holiday Celebration being postponed.

Vice Admiral Jackson was the inaugural speaker for this event in 2017 when she presented “Perspectives on Leading Navy Region Southeast” in her capacity as Commander. This event is a great platform for launching a robust and resilient 2021 as our community employs best practices to recover from and continue to respond to COVID 19 implications.  Those planning to attend in person will be subject to social distancing and other required practices to ensure a safe and inspiring leadership and networking experience as we work to “reopen.”

Look for future announcements with more details via our newsletter and website
