May Luncheon: I-95 Express: Design Innovations and Public Controversy

Our next luncheon will feature Keith Bogart, PE of RS&H, who will discuss the design innovations that were developed for the I-95 Express project and how public opinion was turned during the PD&E phase in regards to express lanes and right-of-way impacts. Design innovations include a diverging diamond interchange at Emerson St and a quadrant intersection at University Blvd. Also discussed will be the approach to public involvement when installing express lanes on an aging urban interstate in the heart of a city where right-of-way is limited.

Starting May 11th at 5:30 pm the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) members, friends, co-workers and prospective members are all invited to attend the Jacksonville Post’s annual Jumbo Shrimp picnic and baseball game. Come out to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville where our very own SkyDeck 1 awaits us for a picnic, baseball game, and a good time. See the Jumbo Shrimp play the Biloxi Shuckers.

UF Student Chapter News

On Aprill 4th, NAVFAC SE and NAS JAX PWD hosted the UF Student Chapter of SAME in addition to the UF Chapter of ASCE for a tour of NAVFAC SE showcasing a number of high priority projects taking place at NAS JAX. Students were able to meet Capt. Michael Monreal, Commanding Officer of NAVFAC SE, in addition to CDR Sylvester Adamah and LT Christopher Adcock. The tour also included tours of the P-8A Simulators, MILCON Project 6-22 (Triton Mission Control Facility), a visit to the Fleet Readiness Center SE Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plant, the Hangar 124 AFFF Tank Project.
